• The North Eastern Traffic Area Office says the number of public inquiries it processes will not fall when it starts to employ two rather than three deputy licensing authorities this week.
Deputy Licensing Authority John Hampton retires from his part-time position this week. However, Hampton, 67, will continue practising as a barrister and recorder.
He leaves DLAs Brian Horner and Mark Hinchliffe, who will continue reporting to North Eastern Licensing Authority Keith Waterworth.
