THE battle to operate joint expre services throughout the year betwet Oldham and Fleetwood was taken stage further at Blackpool last week, t the prospective joini operators—Ribb Motor Services, Lancashire Units Transport, Ltd;, the North Western C; Co., Ltd., Yelloway Motor Services, at W. C. Standerwick, Ltd.

. Initially the application had been heal on July 18 when more than 30 membe of the public supported it. The servii was to be operated via Shaw, Rochdal Bacup, Blackburn, Accrington, Lythar Blackpool and Cleveleys. YellowE Motor Services already operated a servit between Oldham and the Bloomfiel Road Coach Station, Blackpool.

Opposition The proposals were opposed by Elk Smith (Tours), Ltd., B. Barnes and Son Ltd., and British Railways.

Mr. H. Allen, manager of Yelloway said their existing services from Oldhai would be slightly amended and certa; sections would be incorporated in the ne Fleetwood-Oldham route. All the open tors concerned have been travelling ovi the various routes for many years. F produced a table giving comparath road and rail fares from Fleetwood t Oldham.

The chairman of the North Wester Traffic Commissioners, Mr. F. Willian son, said the five joint operators would I allowed to run the service betwee Fleetwood and Oldham only during ti summer. He did not feel it was nece sary in the winter.
