Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FOR some 18 months the latest Unic taxicab chassis has been working on the streets of London in everincreasing numbers. It is building up a reputation similar to that established by its prototypes. From the utility point of view this vehicle is perhaps most outstanding in the direction of the large passenger space provided. Although the wheelbase of the exhibit is only 9 ft. 6 ins., there is ample space for three persons abreast on the rear seat and for two more on the occasional tip-up seats.

In the chassis layout, as in the case of all other Unics, a mechanical booster is employed for the brake gear. This mechanism gives a rapid take-up for the essential clearance in the brakes, so that the time which elapses between the commencement of depression of the brake pedal and the actual contact between the shoes and the drums is reduced to a minimum.

Shown in chassis form is an M.9.A.2 model for a gross load of 2 tons, whilst the chassis weight is 31 cwt.

The M.9.0.2 long wheelbase chossis carries a delivery-van body. Including the coachwork, the load capacity is 2i tons. Another van is the L.11.D.type, the gross load for which is limited to 27i cwt.

The fifth exhibit is the M.8.0.2 chassis with a low load line, making,it specially suitable for passenger work or for bodies for carrying livestock. In this case, as in various models, the brake drums strike a novel note in that the ribbing is lateral ; this, in conjunction with a circumferential flange, provides a really substantial construction.

Two new features this year are the improved flexible type of radiator mounting, and the provision of wheels .intended to carry really large-section low-pressure tyres.—tnic Automobiles. Ltd., 303-5, Cricklewoocl Broadway, London, N.W.2.
