There can be no question as to whether or not to attend this year's Truckfest—quite simply we must not go.
Truckfest is by and large a social gathering and as such does not have much importance attached to it; certainly not enough importance to risk the livestock and livelihoods of farmers and the neighbouring businesses in their regions.
Gathering at Peterborough will be trucks and cars that have driven from, or through, areas with foot and mouth. They will then park alongside other vehicles from, as yet, unaffected areas. After the show, covered in the germs and viruses from the nearby vehicles, they will spread what they've picked up.
Truckfest does not need to go on. It is irrelevant to much of the running of the transport industry but may not be irrelevant to the poor farmer that may have to pick up the pieces afterwards.
