NORMAN FOWLER, Minister of Transport, announced last week the publication of additional evidence submitted by his Department in response to requests from the Armitage Inquiry on Lorries, People and the Environement.
Since publication of the Department's evidence was announced on 21 February, the following further items of evidence have been submitted to the Inquiry: Lorry Speed Limits; EEC Draft Directive on Lorry Weights; Effect on the Numbers of Heavy Vehicles; EEC Draft Directive on Lorry Weights: Effect on Road Safety and the Environment; Urban Highways; Bypasses; Bypasses on non-trunk Roads; Running Costs of Quieter Lorries; Enforcement of Weight Limits; Marking of Bridge Heights; Section 8 Grants — Sensitive Lorry miles; Weighbridges; Effect of EEC Lorry Weights Directive on UK Bridges; Effect of EEC Lorry Weights Directive on UK Road Maintenance and Construction costs; Dykes Act Schemes; Road Safety.
