Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ASTAN DARD range comprising 11 main types of vehicle has been evolved by British Road Services after a study of traffic characteristics and operating requirements. The range covers the majority of needs in the fields of gen.erai haulage and parcels carrying, leaving a Minority of miscellaneous types for special purposes, B.R.S. said on Tuesday.

Light vehicles for parcels and similar traffics comprise a 2-ton van with a 400Lcu.-ft. body, a 3-ton van of 600 or 700 Cu. ft., and two 5-tonvans, one of 690 or 700 cu. ft. and the other of 700 or 800 Cu. ft. All these vehicles have four-cylindered oil engines, except the 700-800-cu.-ft. 5-tonner, which has six-cylindered unit. There is also a tractor with a six-cylindered engine for 8-ton semi-trailefs.

For general haulage the medium and heavy types of vehicle comprise one of 11 tons gross vehicle weight and two of 14 tons gross, one being equipped for drawing a trailer and the other intended for solo operation. There is also a vehicle of 24 tons gross, which may be equipped for drawing trailers.

Apart from an eight-wheeler, all are four-wheelers. A -tractor for10-ton semi-trailers and another for 16-ton units are specified. Apart from the 10-ton tractor, all vehicles of 14 tons gross and over have air-operated brakes.

BIRMINGHAM JOINS DRIVERS' CONTEST ANEW eliminating centre for the PA All-England Lorry Driver of the Yea!r Competition has been set up at Birmingham. The Birmingham Accident Prevention Council are the promoters and will hold an eliminating contest at Fort Dunlop on July 7. Entries are to be limited to 120.
