Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

If you already have a tracking system installed on your vehicle, you can often add live driver performance monitoring to the package. MiX Telematics’ Fleet Manager Communicator can be specified with an in-cab RIBAS (Revving, excessive Idling, harsh Braking, harsh Acceleration and over Speeding) display.

“Used in conjunction with an appropriate driver training programme, the system can bring about dramatic reductions in fuel consumption – typically 10%,” says MD Steve Coffin. “That ensures a quick return on investment and the savings are ongoing.” Microlise’s Driver Feedback module can be configured to suit journey types, terrain and loads. A green light tells the driver he is within permitted tolerances. If parameters are breached, the light turns to amber and a recorded voice (male or female) alerts the driver to the specific problem. If there is no response from the driver, the system will then record the infringement. However, behaviour, which has a safety impact such as harsh braking and speeding, is always recorded by the unit and a red light illuminated. Cybit’s in-cab dashboard coach is supplied as part of its Ecosystem driver performance package. Behaviour that breaches pre-set parameters triggers a pulsing LED light on the device and a buzzer, which continues until the vehicle drops below the threshold. Speeding incidences illuminate a blue LED to attract attention.

Trimble MRM’s Driver Safety in-cab display incorporates redamber-green lights. “For maximum benefit, it is essential to correct uneconomical and unsafe driving in real-time. By measuring only five or six parameters, you can get comprehensive data about driving style and for particular operations and vehicles, says Michel van Maercke, MD of Trimble Transport and Logistics.

The EDM eco is an interactive in-cab fuel consumption measurement system from Continental VDO. It displays current fuel consumption, average fuel consumption and accumulated running costs on an easy-to-read display screen. The screen has pictograms showing the current driving style, which is compared with the stored and average values for town, country and motorway traffic.
