Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

HAVING JUST READ your report on the guilty verdict on the partners ofWilliam Martin Oliver & Partners, I feel that VOSA has once again stepped way out of line with its discrimination and harassment of both the haulier and, of course, the employees.

I must first point out that I don't in anyway condone the falsification of tachograph charts or breaches of the drivers' hours regulations but in the increasingly dangerous world we all live in,is it really the most important thing in the world to jail truck drivers for breaches of a draconian law imposed by an organisation that seems hell bent on destroying the industry which keeps this country moving?

So another haulier has now gone down the swanney, with hard working truck drivers jailed and without employment. Why?

• Was anyone maimed or killed by the 'serious' breaches of the regulations? No.

• Did the Olivers not pay an awful lot of money into the country every year through fuel duty, road tax and corporate tax? Yes.

• Have 155 people now lost their jobs thanks to the full of selfimportance VOSA brigade? Yes.

If the drivers of W Martin Oliver — and the partners for that matter — have, which no doubt they have, paid income tax on their 'illegally' earned wages, why is the Inland Revenue not getting hammered for accepting illegally earned money?

Another clear indication of how sleazy a country the UK is becoming.
