Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

know crime often pays—but luckily villains can occasionally be counted on to be their own worst enemies.

An attempted £1m raid on a security van in Hampshire was foiled when the robbers accidentally set fire to the loot with a blowtorch used to burn a hole in the side of the vehicle. Thousands of pounds in notes were set ablaze and, in the confusion, the Securicor driver drove away and raised the alarm.

The gang had forced the vehicle to stop by calling the driver on his mobile phone and threatening to blow up the van unless he followed them into a copse. The police are trying to discover how the villains got hold of the mobile phone number in what they say was a "highly unusual method" of halting a security vehicle.
