Types of Vehicle in Use at Liverpool To-day and 15 Years ,Ag

ALTHOUGH it is generally assumed that Liverpool's interest in motorbuses has been of comparatively recent origin, such is far from being the case. Fully 14 or 15 years ago motorbuses were in operation' working`from Wools ton, one of the suburban districts, to the city. One of the first buses to be put in operation in the City of Liverpool was operated by the Woolton Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., a company who were

taken over by the Liverpool Corporation in 1911. Their equipment included the motorbus of which an illustration is reproduced on this page.

The old-time vehicle, with its sloping platform, rear entrance, fixed awning and side curtains, forms an interesting contrast to the double-decker. The body was mounted on a Durham-Churchhill chassis. The Liverpool Corporation buses now cover some of the ground formerly worked by the old Woolton Motorbus Co., Ltd, its fleet consisting of single and double-decker A.E.C. vehicles.
