organiser Tim Hutchings approached Goldstar Heathrow to ask if the company would be interested in providing transport for the first marathon to take place in the south coast town.
The task would use 10 trailers to hold the personal belongings of the runners, as well as requiring five additional vehicles to distribute water and sports drinks to specific points around the course A convoy of 15 vehicles left the Goldstar premises at Heathrow at 4am on Sunday 18 April in order to meet the deadlines, and on the day Goldstar delivered 76 tonnes of drinks. Clearly marathon running is a thirsty business.
