• Wincanton Logistics boosted its profits by 22% in the year ending in March. Earlier this week the Somerset-based firm, which is part of the Unigate group, announced its largest rise in profits in years.
A growth in existing business combined with several contract wins helped turnover rise from 1474m in 1998 to £548m last year. Pre-tax profits rose from £25m to 130,4m.
