Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DaimlerChrysler's "electronic drawbar" system uses a combination of infra-red tracking and radio communication to allow automatic control without making costly changes to the transport infrastructure.

The tracking system gathers information from a circular array of infrared sensors on the lead vehicle. By matching this data to a computer template, trucks in a convoy can track exactly what the vehicle in front is doing—whether it is pulling away, braking or cornering.

Research into this technology began three years ago, using results from the pan-European Prometheus project. Half of the DM5m spent so far has come from the EU.
