Dick Hampton operates 130 rugged tipping vehicles, and las contracts this year which include site preparation for notorways, road improvement schemes, reservoirs, Power stations and oil refineries. Nhen Hampton first started with a fleet of tipper vehicles le experienced difficulties. Heavy use inflicted severe lamage on the vehicles and tipping equipment. Conventional tipping gears proved unsatisfactory for handling heavy loads on rough sites.
The Telelever was specially developed in two forms by Telehoist for this very demanding work. One, a single extension double acting ram; and two, a heavy duty double acting twin ram version with single extensions, mounted in a chassis sub-frame. The full length sub-frame reinforces the chassis and distributes the stresses equally. A robust, twin linkage mechanism protects the ram from abnormal strain from side loads, and also provides great stability when tipping. Telelevers give fast tipping times of 10 to 13 seconds. Tipping angles of up to 70° are possible too with Telelever gears.
