Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The manner in which many coMmerertal 'chides have withstood the arduous eonlitiens of operation during the last few "rears with the minimum of attention and the maximum of work has not only proved the dependability of trade upon transport but also that the majority of British-built vehicle's can be relied upon to give efficient and reliable running. This is strikingly evidenced so far as the McCurd lorry is concerned in a letter

which the company have received from T. W. Toovey, Ltd., millers and corn merchants, of King's Langley, Herts. It runs as follows:—

"We beg to confirm the verbal order given you to-day for a new 4-ton McCord lorry, and shall be glad to have the earliest possible delivery that you can manage: ." The first McCurd lorry we had from you was in November, 1915. This machine has proved entirely satisfactory ; it has invariably been sent out fully loaded and the work given it to do has been very heavy, especially in many of the cofintry districts, where the roads and hills are had

"Perhaps the following figures will be of interest to you—these cover the three years we have had the lorry. The only drawback has been during the last year, when our petrol allowance was not a-ufficient to keep the lorry in constant use; the consequence has been that the tonnage and, mileage are less than the two previous years.

" The three years tonnage: 6,605 tens; the cost of repairs and doing up for three years, L57; the mileage for three Years, 56.000.

"We have had one new set of Dunlop tyres all round (costing L63 10s), and these are still in very good condition for SOMC thousands Dl miles yet." This particular vehicle, of which we reproduce an illustration herewith, has a very creditable past and affords praiseworthy testimony of the reliability and efficiency of McCurd construction.
