Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Shock Absorber

WITH REFERENCE to the discussion at Tipcon on axle weighers, it occurs to me that a cheap and effective solution might be to mark the telescopic shock absorbers at the deflection of the maximum axle weight. This could even be done by the manufacturer, since the design or weight of the body will have no effect on the maximum legal axle weight.

The advantages include 100 per cent reliability and both offside and nearside readings.

The main disadvantage would seem to be the necessity of keeping the shock absorbers clean.

It would be interesting to hear the views of operators on the subject.
