D EGULATIONS prescribing the IN. application forms to be used by buyers of transport units in applying for special five-year A licences were published on Tuesday afternoon. The forms to be used by the British Transport Commission in applying for licences are also set out.
These provisions are contained in the Goods Vehicles (Licences and Prohibitions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1953. The regulations cost 4d. and are published by the Stationery Office.
The form of application for a special A licence is coded G.V.1A (SP). The base from which the B.T.C. operated must be stated, as well as that from which the applicant wishes to work. Applications for variations must be made on form G.V.6 (SP).
The Commission must use G.V.1A (BTC) for original applications and G.V.6 (BTC) for variations.

Bridge, where queues of vehicles sometimes stretch for two miles, is causing concern to North Wales coach operators, says the British Road Federation. Passengers are arriving late for meals and evening engagements, and coach timetables are completely disorganized. Operators are proposing to avoid the old walled town of Conway and its castle, which would seriously damage the trade of several coastal towns.
The present chaos was forecast in May. when 23 local authorities met in Llanfairfechan by invitation of the Welsh Tourist and Holidays Board.
INCREASE IN FUEL PRICES
EIGHT oil companies had, by Wednesday, announced that the prices of all grades of petrol would be raised by id. a gallon as from that day. They were the Esso Petroleum Co., Ltd., Cleveland Petroleum Co., Ltd., National Benzoic Co., Ltd., Fina Petroleum Products, Ltd., Regent Oil Co., Ltd., Vacuum Oil Co., Ltd., Power . Petroleum Co., Ltd., and Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd.
Prices of fuel oil and white spirit have also been increased. Esso AutoDiesel fuel, for instance, has risen in price by id. per gallon. The advances have been made necessary by a rise in world prices.
APPLY EARLY
BEET hauliers are reminded by the Eastern Licensing Authority that applications for short-term licences or for variations of conditions to permit the carriage of beet during the forthcoming campaign must be lodged at least eight weeks before the required facilities are desired to take effect.
