Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Mike Gordon Chilled food distributor 3663 has angered suppliers and a trade association by withdrawing access to the toilets and refreshment facilities at one of its sites for all non-3663 drivers.

The firm wrote to all suppliers to state that increased security at the company's Reading Regional Distribution Centre made it impossible to provide any refreshment or toilet facilities for non-employees. The alternative suggested by 3663 for drivers delivering to the RDC was to use the facilities of a nearby Little Chef or McDonalds.

However, neither restaurant chain will allow trucks to use its carparks, leaving drivers with no-where else to go.

RHA's regional director Geoff Dunning says: "Their attitude does nothing to help in the ever increasing problem of recruitment of drivers.

"If they are to be treated as secondclass citizens, then the job will never be an attractive one. Unfortunately 3663 are not alone in doing this; I have heard of many other depots doing the same, he says.

Ian Render, 3663's distribution con. tre manager, was unavailable for con meet as CM went to press.
