reefers on its loot as the company continues o replace ageing stock.

The semis, on a three-year ease from TIP, are fitted with liermo King SL-300 refrigeraion units, the R:Com automatic lata handling and the Locavista ;atellite navigation system.

The system allows the )perator to locate the trailer, to monitor the temperature in the trailer and to keep tabs on the security codes for the back doors showing the times at which the trailer is opened.

• There's more than one way to run at 44 tonnes, and Sawtry-based BAS has chosen a rather unusual configuration for its latest skip loader outfit. The seven-axle rig consists of a sleeper

cabbed Oaf FAD 85CF 430 8x4 towing a low-profile triaxle drawbar trailer. The 5.7m-wheelbase chassis has a heavy-duty steel-sprung rear bogie and ABS brakes; it drives via a ZF 165-181 gearbox.

The Chieftain air-suspended triaide trailer is connected to the Oaf factory-fitted drawbar kit via a Rockinger coupling, specified for ease of use on rough terrain. Roll-on/roll-off skip loading gear is by Boughton, and includes a pair of 40yd3 skips with an Edbro sheeting system.

With many tightly planned building and demolition projects featuring in the BAS Daf's 80,000km-per-year work schedule, the sleeper cab allows the driver to be ready on-site for the frequent early starts.
