Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

EMPLOYERS can now receive nine months' Government support instead of the current six months under the temporary short-time working compensation scheme. But compensation has been cut from 75 per cent to 50 per cent of normal pay.

Employers already using the benefits of the scheme, or those who applied before November 21, will receive 75 per cent for six months and must reapply to use the scheme for a further three months at the reduced rate. The scheme closes on March 31, 1982 and applies only to ten or more redundancies.

The Road Haulage Association has added a question and answer section explaining the new provisions to its own guide to the scheme. The guide is available from the RHA at 22 Upper Woburn Place, London WC1H OES (enclosing a sae).
