Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WHILST not wishing to detract from the initiative of Commercial Motor in offering the home study pack for Certificate of Professional Competence we would be grateful if you would bring to the attention of your readers that the initials TDT are a registered business name of our firm, Training Developments (Transport) Limited and as such should be used solely in connection with our company.

This matter has previously been brought to the attention of the Esher company but should be repeated now because of the confusion it causes with our clients who believe we have opened a subsidiary in the London area. The use of similar initials by both organisations has a story behind it which we will not go into now, but suffice to say that our Group Training Association became incorporated a con

siderable time before the Esher company and we were the first GTA to receive RTITB approval for both National and International Certificate of Professional Competence courses and have achieved considerable success (no less than 90 per cent first time pass rate) for several hundred students who have attended what are generally considered to be one of the best CPC courses in the UK.

T. DAVIES Managing Director Training Developments (Transport) Ltd Kelvedon Colchester The use of initials to abbreviate titles is regrettably established practise in business. It can be most confusing. Before using initials CM always establishes the title with readers. We have no wish to mislead readers. — Editor.
