COLIN HILL has taken over at manager of Bridgewater Transport Services after joining the company as assistant manager in September 1976. Mr Hill started his career in transport in 1964 with Parkinson Cowan Distribution, from 1969 to 1974 he was branch manager for British Road Services in the Midlands, and later worked for Smiths Crisps at Stockport as distribution depot manager before joining BTS.

Irish International Forwarders, a member of the SPD Group, a wholly owned Unilever subsidiary, has named Robin Mulligan as its Euro Shuttle manager. Until recently, Mr Mulligan was managing director of Concorde's agent, Blue Water Shipping, and was formerly responsible for Forwarding Services' Seaborne activities.

Sir Humphrey Browne has been re-appointed as chairman of the British Transport Docks Board (in accordance with the Transport Bill proposals to be renamed British Ports) for a further period to October 31, 1982. He is a past president of the Institute of Freight Forwarders.

New deputy chairman of Tozer Kemsley and Millbourn (Holdings) Ltd, the international trading, finance and investment group is Sir Montague Prichard who has been a member of the main TKM board since 1976. He retired as chairman and chief executive of the Perkins Engines Group Ltd in 1975. Malcolm Horsman has been named managing director of TKM having been a director since 1975. Previously, he had been employed by TKM as an executive from 1958 to 1963.

The Freight Transport Association's assistant south east regional engineer, Mick Chandler has taken over as assistant manager of the FTA's inspection services, working with inspection services manager, Dave Moody.

David Cole has become deputy, managing director, marketing, of Conoco Ltd, the company which markets Jet Petrol and Conoco Industrial fuels and lubricants in the UK. Mr Cole was formerly general manager, marketing.

Peter Tye has become general manager at Dees Commercial Centre having previously worked at Manton Motors, Dees of Croydon, and, more recently, Dees of Sidcup. The previous general manager, Graham Speakman, is moving to the position of general manager at Sidcup, having spent nine years running the Commercial Centre since it was built on the Croydon Airport Industrial Estate in 1972.

Marketing director of North Eastern British Road Services Ltd since 1974, George Johnson, has just retired following a serious illness. He started as a van boy with Boutts Tillotson in 1930, served as a branch manager with the BRS Group both at Leeds and Harrogate before taking up the position of marketing manager in 1971 and marketing director in 1974.

Frank Manton has retired as group engineer of BOC Transhield and his past duties will now be undertaken by John Austell and Richard Cannon.
