LEYLAND SALES UP: Leyland Motors Ltd. has reported a substantial increase in orders for passenger and commercial vehicle chassis during the first quarter of its new financial year (the last three months of 1963). Most popular commercial models are the cruiser-weight Comet and the heavier-rated Super Comet, which together have brought orders for more than 2,000 of these vehicles. The hest selling export bus continues to be the Worldmaster, orders received for this model during the last three months totalling more than £2 m.

FIRST A.E.C. COMMERCIALS IN ECUADOR: Alberto Alban M. of Guayaquil, Ecuador, has placed an order for six Mogul four-wheel chassis within two weeks of being appointed A.E.C. distributors. Two of the vehicles will be used on banana plantations. whilst the other four are to have turbocharged engines for high altitude operation.

SEMI-TRAILERS FOR P1CKFORDs: British Road Services has ordered 21 Scammell fifth-wheel. drop-frame semitrailers to be fitted with van bodies by West Surrey Industries Ltd. They will be operated by Pickfords on inter-Continental runs.

YORK TRAILERS POPULAR: Orders totalling 39 semi-trailers have been received by the York Trailer Company Ltd. during the past few days. They include eight tandem T.I.R. trailers for Seabourne Shipping Company; four single axle T.1.R. trailers for McVeigh Transport Ltd.; two T.I.R. trailers for G_ C. Munton (Heavy Haulage) Ltd., ordered through Newark Road Garage, Ltd.; 12 W2 12-ton platform trailers for Hollis Brothers, timber merchants at Hull, through Commercial Motors (Hull) Ltd., and four 12-ton Freightmaster vans for Birmingham Sound Reproducers Ltd., through B. and W. Motors Ltd., of Wolverhampton. The remaining nine semi-trailers were ordered through Millburn Motors Ltd., of Glasgow, comprising four drop-deck tandem Freightmasters for McKelvie and Company Ltd., and five W2 12-ton platform trailers for Highland Haulage Ltd.

MORE ALB1ONS FOR OXYGEN: The British Oxygen Company Ltd. is to add another six Albion Chieftains to its fleet, which already includes more than 120 Albion .vehicles. The new chassis will be used for the mounting of spherical gas tanks.
