Westminster by the British Transport Commission's decision to discontinue subsidizing Hebblc Motor Services, Ltd., following the closure of the HalifaxBradford-Keighley railway service. This was stated in a letter sent to the Yorkshire Transport Users' Consultative Committee by Mr. G. Hirst. M.P. for Skipton.
Commenting on Hebble's application to withdraw their Wilsden and Cullingworth service, he said the company had been placed in an impossible position. They had operated the service with a sub
stantfal subsidy from the B.T.C. since th.: railway line closed, so responsibility for their action in approaching the Traffic Commissioners really rested with the Commission.
The B.T.C.'s action was contrary to understandings reached, discourtemrs to those with a public responsibility to discharge. and unfair to residents in the area, said Mr. Hirst.
