Other new models are in course of preparation.

The directors are considering making a further issue of capital for the permanent financing of additions to the factory, to maintain adequate stocks and to provide extra working capital.

NOTTINGHAM IN OPPOSITION

MOTTINGHAM Chamber of Cora1 `41merce has agreed to send to headquarters a resolution reaffirming its opposition to the nationalization of inland transport. The Chamber urges the Association of British Chambers of Commerce to take steps, before the Bill is considered further, to secure a public inquiry, or to ensure that the Bill was sent to a select committee of the House of Commons.

MASS DRIVE TO LONDON?

THAT he would like to see an anti1 nationalization demonstration in the 'form. of a mass drive of vehicles to London was the comment made by Mr. ,E. Overton, at a meeting of Huddersfield Chamber of Commerce, when it . was . decided to support opposition to the Transport Bill. ,

• Mr. Brian Broadbent, the Chamber's president, said that the Government's refusal to agree to a public inquiry was an indication that the only reason for wishing to rush the Bill through was to further an ideology.

NEW OIL RESEARCH COMPANY

ANEW research and development organization has been formed to work in close collaboration with users of petroleum products, Government Departments, British universities and scientific bodies. It is Esso Development Co., Ltd., and it will co-ordinate

its workwith that of the large existing research organizations of the Standard Oil Co. (N.J.) Group•in the and Canada.

Shareholders are the Anglo-American Oil Co, Ltd, and the Standard Oil Development Co. Directors are Mr. D. A. Shepard, chairman of the AngloAmerican concern; Mr. R. A. Carder, managing director of that company; Mr. Brian Mead, refining co-ordinator for European companies of the Standard group, and Mr. H. C. Tett, the managing director of the new company.

FARM ENGINEERS MERGE I T is announced that J. Gibbs, Ltd.,

Bedfont, Middlesex, has purchased the whole of the shares in W. J. Coles (Engineers), Ltd., Bracknell, Berkshire. The Coles concern is old-established, and carries agencies and service facilities for many well-known manufacturers of agricultural equipment. -For the time being, the business will be run under its old title, and J. Gibbs, Ltd., will take over control as from February 1.

THE Liverpool District and North Wales Sub-area of the Traders Road TranspoTt Association is now functioning as a separate area and has ceased to be part of the North-western Area organization, which has its office at .Manchester. The office of ,the Liverpool District and North Wales Area will continue to be at 14, Tithebarn Street, Liverpool; with Mr. C. Dudley Whitnall as secretary: Mr. B. G. Orinrod is chairman. of the local committee.

In 1946, the Measham Motor Sales Organization, which distributes used vehicles, had a turnover of £3,500,000, an increase of £1,500,000 over the figure for the previous year.
