DE'RIBED as "The Motor Vehicles (Gas Container) (Amendment) (No. 2) Provisional Regulations, 1940," new regulations relating to the use of gas fuel have recently been made. Regulation 8 is the one that has been amended.
Its gist is (1) that every valve or cock subjected to a ,pressure exceeding 100. lb. per sq. in. shall be of forged steel or brass or bronze; (2) that a valve or cock shall be fitted to the pipe line to enable the gas supply from container to
mixing valve to be shut off; (3) that in the case of a high-pressure system, it shall be between the container and the pressure-reducing valve, and shall be visible and accessible from outside the vehicle, also that a notice indicating its position and method of operation shall be mounted conspicuously on the outside of the vehicle; in cases other than high pressure, if the valve be not visible . and accessible, there must be a notice as with high-pressure systems,
