DRAPER DISTRIBUTION is to join UK Pallets as it looks to hit its 2011 revenue target of £2.5m.

The St Helen’s, Merseyside-based operator will manage Warrington and Wigan deliveries for the pallet network, with effect from March.

Peter Draper, MD of Draper Distribution, tells CM: “Not being part of a pallet network has been a barrier for us in the past, because more and more customers are asking for pallet services. We have wanted to join a network for a while and are confident joining UK Pallets will increase our customer base and help us to gain new volumes from existing clients.” The move into pallets comes after the firm celebrated a jump in turnover to £1.6m in 2010, from £850,000 in 2009.

The company did, however, suffer a 35.7% decline in pre-tax profit to £45,000 from £70,000. It cites substantial truck and telematics investments made last year as a reason for the drop.

“I believe now that we have made the investments, we have a strong platform for growth,” Draper says. The company expects to almost treble pre-tax profit this year as well as generating sales of £2.5m.

A number of new drivers are now being recruited to cope with the anticipated rise in volumes.
