Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

for choice when deciding which show or event to attend. If you scour the relevant specialist (classic, veteran, heritage, steam or truck) magazines you should find a monthly programme to pick from; the best internet listing of events I've encountered is on Fleetdata (see below).

The various Truckfests are enjoyed by many and while modern trucks are their mainstay, classic and vintage vehicles are also well represented. The Trucicfest Road Show starts at Peterborough on 1-2 May before heading to Driffield in Fast Yorkshire on 4-5 June. It moves to Shepton Mallet on 2-3 July and Edinburgh on 6-7 August: the season closes at Haydock, Lancashire on 17-18 September Events don't come much bigger than the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Now into its 37th year, it regularly attracts 200,000 visitors to the 600acre site at Tarrant Hinton near Blandford Forum. For 2005 the fair is on from 31 August until 4 September but be prepared it can be dusty, muddy, or both.

Don't just think you'll only see steam engines at the Great Dorset-or any of the other dig steam-based shows throughout the country -as there are generally all sorts of classic/vintage vehicles on show. But if your hearts desire is classic vehicles don't miss the CVRTCS Classic Commercial Motor Show, held just off the Warwickshire stretch of M40 at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon on the weekend of 11-12 June. More than 400 vehicles are expected, and there's a huge show of models.

Another weekender is the Swansea Festival of Transport on the weekend of 18-19 June, which clashes with the weekend of events ran by the Dumfries Transport Preservation Group. The Llandudno Transport Festival takes up the extended bank holiday weekend on 30 April and 2 May. And if you like military vehicles get on parade with the world's largest military vehicle spectacular -the 23rd annual War & Peace Show at The Hop Farm near Paddock Wood in Kent on Wednesday-Sunday 20-24 July. At the other end of the size spectrum and at the other end of the country -Stornoway to be exact -the Western Isles Transport Preservation Group gathers on 17 September.
