It is many moons now since The Hawk was last in the saddle. Back then, his preferred -loot was likely to be found .vending its way along Blackpool pleasure beach, sporting a straw hat with two slits cut out for the ears: nothing like these two strapping equine specimens, whose rid

ers, 17-year-olds Kerry Brown and Tom Davin, won joint first prize of this lsuzu "Free Style"horsebox in a competition sponsored by lsuzu Truck (UK).

Joining Kerry and Tom, but with their feet on terra firma, are Birchinley Manor owner Roy Tsang (left) and Bob Naughton, deputy MD of lsuzu Truck.

The Birchinley Manor Equestrian Centre. Rochdale, was delighted when the company offered to sponsor one of its major show jumping competitions.

"The lsuzu Spectacular' took place over nine months, and the final was held in December 1999. Kerry and Tom's trusty steeds can now look forward to a life of luxury. The horsebox, mounted on an lsuzu NPR 6.2-tonne chassis, was designed by Essex coachbuilder IPD. It has room for two horses, and comes with fully fitted day living quarters including sink, cassette player and TV. Let's hope the nags don't argue over the remote control.
