Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

HAVING for some years specialized in the production of tractors suitable for hauling mowing machines for use on sports grounds, the Allan Taylor Engineering and Manufacturing Co., High Street, Wandsworth, London, S.W.18, has introduced the A.T. Junior Golf tractor. The basis of the machine is *he Ford 8 h.p. four-cylinder car chassis.

A number of modifications has, however, been made to the chassis, amongst which may be mentioned the shortening of the frame—the machine in tractor form having a wheelbase of 5 ft. 6 ins. —the use of a Ford 1-tonner back axle with a bevel-gear ratio of 16 to 1, and the location of the 8-gallon petrol tank below the driver's footboard.

The front wheels carry 4.50-in. by 17-in, pneumatic tyres, whilst, for the back axle, interchangeable pneumatictyred and steel wheels are provided, the latter having detachable studs or spikes. The Junior tractor, which wilighs complete 13 cwt., has been introduced to meet the demand for a popular-priced machine (£175), suitable for use on small sports grounds.

In the larger A.T. tractors, a tipping body is provided, whereas in the case of the Junior a 4-1-cubic yd. fixed open body, with a rear hinged tailboard, is mounted behind the driver's seat. A hook is provided on the rear cross-member of the frame, to which three 30-in. mowing machines can be attached.

While at the Allan Taylor works, we

also inspected an example of the latest A.T. haulage tractor, in which certain improvements have recently been embodied. The machine employs a Fordson engine developing 60 b.h.p.
