A CONVICTED Aberdeenshire haulier has been disqualified from holding an 0-licence for 10 years, in the fall-out from the high-profile Stephen Sullivan case.
Scottish Traffic Commissioner (TC) Joan Aitken (pictured) revoked the 0-licence held by William Robertson, from Aboyne, who traded as William Robertson Haulage. The 10-year disqualification came into effect on 27 November.
The decision follows a public inquiry held in Edinburgh on 2 November, where the TC wanted to consider Robertson's repute, following his previous conviction of conspiracy to defraud the TCs and their staff in April, where Robertson was jailed for 12 months.
Robertson. alongside Anthony Purnell and Stephen O'Sullivan, offered spaces on other 0-licences and sold them on for profit to those not entitled to them (0-licence scammer sentenced to six-anda-half years', CM 30 April).
"A period of 10 years would serve the regulatory purposes,says Aitken. "It will give Robertson an indication of the sort of period needed before he could contemplate a return to goods vehicle operation, whether as an operator, driver, or in some other arrangement."
