distance warranty on newly registered buses and coaches to include free first and second services and free driveline cover for the second year of operation. The first-year warranty also includes a pan-European call-out scheme with free recovery and tow to the company's nearest service point.

Trailer tests • Tiphook's trailer rental division, Central Trailer Rentco (CTR), has opened a Vehicle Inspectorate-approved trailer testing centre at its Felixstowe branch to join the approved centre at its Leeds site. Felixstowe will handle the 630 trailers from CTR's eastern depot but will also be open to other operators.

Euro Axle • SAF's maintenance-free Euro-Axle is now available in 10-tonne form for tandem-axle trailers. It has a claimed service life of 500,000km and distributor IMS says that reduced maintenance times will lead to "substantial savings over the life of the axle".

Parcel trunkers • Amtrak Express Parcels has just spent £500,000 on seven 17-tonne rigids and three artic trunkers. The aerodynamic Scania P93 tractors and Cartwright 12.2m trailers are expected to improve operations to the firm's Birmingham sorting centre.
