OWNERS of 177 Rover 2.4 SD turbocharged diesel-engined cars are being advised to return them to Austin Rover dealers for replacement of vacuum pump drive gears.
The recall action follows the discovery that some gears on the Rover's Italian made VM engine have been incorrectly hardened and this could lead to rapid wearing of the gear teeth and possible pump failure. Austin Rover dealers will replace the faulty parts free of charge.
