Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The possible installation of CB-type radios in the cabs of commercial vehicles is a topic

which arouses animosity fror the police and other radio users, not to mention amusement from the public, who only see it as the gimmi portrayed in the pop record -Convoy". But it arouses interest from other drivers.

It would be virtually impossible to use the FM frequency band because it's used by the police and other services.

The current type of two-wE sets made in America and Japan are totally unsuitable t our needs. So we need a nev% breed of sets.

I am a night trunker driver and would welcome a two-wa radio system in many ways. would help to overcome the sudden bouts of drowsiness which arise during the course of a long journey, especially a night on motorways.

There is also the need for such a device during a vehicIE break-down. I appreciate the emergency phones, but, as anyone who has had recourse to use one knows, to relate th necessary information back to your firm is not easy or alwar possible.

This can help create jobs. ,e twenty-four hour watch network could be set up and manned by a neglected sectioi of the community — handicapped or disabled people.

This system would depend upon the range of the sets. One could then organise a network of listeners across the country who would also have E special call sign, so that when a driver breaks down he can relate the needed information to the listener, who could then get in touch by phone with either a breakdown service or the driver's firm.

This system could be quite easily paid for in the form of a nominal licence fee to be collected by a relevant body. I am sure that all users of this system would be willing to pay this fee for the service it supplies.

The actual number of sets would depend on whether the firm fits the sets or the driver fits one to meet his own needs.

This idea, although not new, would fulfil a service to drivers, and would surely create work in the electronics industry in this country.

They would also create jobs for handicapped and disabled people who, I feel sure, would jump at the opportunity to earn their living, instead depending upon social benefits.
