Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THOUSANDS of trucks faced a wait of up to four days at the Mont Blanc tunnel last week when snow clearers went on strike.

The tunnel through the Alps was closed late on the Tuesday night following heavy snow Queues of vehicles, many of them British, quickly began to build up.

At one point, police on the French side of the tunnel at Cluis estimated that more than 2,000 vehicles were waiting to get through.

And at Austa, on the Italian side, things were almost as bad with an estimated pile-up of 1,500 trucks.

Mr Ken Seymour, of Grange Seymour International, told CM: "We had five trucks waiting to get through with £500,000 worth of exports on board.

"By the time the strike ended and trucks began to roll through on Saturday morning, we estimate the delay had cost us £150 per vehicle."
