transport operations. He is Duncan Shann, 55-year-old PO vehicle design, provision and maintenance chief.
Mr Shann takes over a 26,000-vehicle fleet — Britain's second largest — from Maurice Humphrey, who retired last month after nine years in the hot seat.
The organisation is a £26m a year business employing over 3,000 people, with vehicles covering more than 300 million miles a year.
Mr Shann joined the Post Office straight from school in 1938 in Manchester.
Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company has appointed Victor Todd manager of its unit cargo division and John Owen as manager of general cargo division.
After 12 years with the company, Mr Todd moves from his post as manager of the container division. Mr Owen was previously Mr Todd's assistant in the ro-ro division and became manager in January.
As a result of the new job, Joseph Dunbar moves to the ro-ro division as manager in January. He has been superintendent of the terminal since 1973 after joining the company from the Parachute Regiment.
On the passenger front, National Bus has appointed two new regional directors. They are John Hargreaves, who takes over the Western Area, and Irwin Dalton, who goes to the North.
Mr Hargreaves moves to his new job from Midland Red, where he is general manager and divisional director of the Midlands division, western region.
Mr Dalton is general manager of Ribble Motor Services and divisional director of the north western division, western region.
The moves are a result of the appointment of Robert Brook as NBC chief executive and Frank Pointon as his deputy.
