It's not often the government gives away cash in order to help you save money. But the Safe and Fuel-Efficient Driver (Safed) programme does just that, by providing training to help drivers and trainers drive more safely and economically.
The scheme has been running for four years for general transport and van drivers. Now, with some extra funding from the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund, it has been extended until the end of next March and will target the aggregates sector.
To publicise the initiative, Safed is giving a magnificent model of a Scania 8x4 tipper, mounted in a 300mmlong display cabinet, to a CM reader who answers the following questions correctly. The winner will be drawn from all the correct entries received by Monday 21 August.
