Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A Cambridgeshire driver, who used a wire to interfere with his tachograph, has lost his HGV licence for 12 months. Michael Green, of Littleport, Ely, had been called before Eastern Traffic Commissioner Geoffrey Simms at a Cambridge disciplinary inquiry but failed to appear.

The TC was told that Green had been convicted of knowingly making a false tachograph record and of failing to ensure that his tachograph was functioning correctly. He had been fined a total of £600. Green's tachograph records also showed that he had regularly driven his 41-tonne artic at up to 75mph.

Revoking the licence, the TC said he found that Green's conduct left him with no alternative.
