Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Yet again motorway service stations have been slammed for their poor quality food with Granada's offerings branded disgusting, dreary and inedible.

This time experts from The Good Food Guide were asked by Which? magazine to sample meals at Welcome Break, RoadChef and Granada restaurants.

In the report out last week Granada fares the worst, but the general message is that food is poor, value for money low and service variable. Inspectors said that RoadChefs Food Fayre served up "a Danish pastry the Danes would disown"; the peas at Granada's Freshexpress "looked like they were from another planet"; and The Granary at Welcome Break had "batter welded to fish like cement".

The WhichP report follows news that food critic Egon Ronay is to improve the standard of Welcome Break food.
