DEFECTS on the MI are almost wholly confined to the slow lanes, where the stresses created by fast-moving heavy commercial traffic proved to be much more severe than anything previously experienced, announced the Minister of Transport, Answering Commons questions, he said that excluding normal maintenance about £59,000 had been spent by his Department so far.
