A full-time journalist for 20 years, during which he specialized in motoring subjects in London and abroad, and was for some years. on the staffs of the " Cape Argus " and the "Rand Daily Mail," most of his Service career was with Army operational public relations. One _of the original Press conducting officers in France and Belgium in the early days, he became D.A.D.P.R, Eastern Command and London. Recovering from a serious injury while on duty, he landed with the Allied Forces in North Africa and Italy. During the past year he wasPress Officer on the staff of 'FieldMarshal Alexander, and previously was with other great commanders, including Field-Marshal Montgomery and General Eisenhower During the battles in Italy he produced the official communiqués and operational background for the guidance of Press and radio. Incidentally, be was twice wounded as an infantryman • in the war of 1914-18.
