Driver sues TOG after his truck is blown over

LGV driver Brian Young has instigated a personal injury claim against his employer TOG after being injured when his truck overturned in strong winds in February.

Young was left with a compound double wrist fracture, shattered ankle and shin, and lacerations to his face after the TOG truck he was driving was blown over on to a stone wall on the northbound carriageway of the A68 on 21 February.

Young has now instructed Irwin Mitchell to pursue a personal injury claim.

Rachel Di Clemente, industrial injury expert at Irwin Mitchell, says: In this case, the vehicle's load [of empty plastic bottles] was particularly light and at greater risk of overturning in wind. The employer should have taken this into account before sending its drivers out that evening," she says.

A TDG spokeswoman says: "We cannot comment on an ongoing investigation."
