the fees charged to drivers for use of the special vehicle recovery service on the Severn Bridge. The new charge will be 02 for the first half-hour and £6 for every succeeding quarter-hour, regardless of vehicle size. At present the charge is £8 for the first half-hour and £2 for each succeeding quarter-hour.
The DTp says that the service, on standby 24 hours a day, has been running at an increasing loss. In the year 1980-81, 463 vehicles were recovered from the bridge, in 1979-80, 525 vehicles were recovered.
