Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I MUST point out a mistake in Commercial Motor February 27. It was in the four-wheel drive tests by Bill Brock and Steve Gray.

They stated on page 25 that the shift from twoto four-wheel drive in the Toyota LC had to be done while the vehicle was stationary. This is not so. The Toyota can be shifted from twowheel drive to four-wheel drive at any speed provided the hut are locked, which they usually are. Your report suggested th( driver would have to get out ir the mud.

In reading the report, it wou seem that freewheeling hubs were a drawback, when in fact they are an advantage. If the Land Cruiser is used for long periods on dry conditions the hubs can be freewheeled whic means the half shafts, diff, anc drive shaft do not have to operate which also saves fuel.

I think to be fair to Toyota yc should print a correction. JAMES O'SULLIVAN Abbey Head Scotland The Toyota drivers' handbook states clearly that "To use the front wheel drive control, brin the vehicle to a complete stop before shifting the transfer control lever." Editor.
