by Ron Cater • There were some 170 exhibitors at the fifth Autovak Exhibition of garage equipment in Amsterdam this week. The attendance on Monday, the opening day, had by 2 p.m. already exceeded by 700 the full first day's figures at the last exhibition two years ago.

Autovak is the biggest specialist show dealing solely with garage and workshop equipment in Europe. As attendance is by invitation only, the show is never really crowded and allows visitors to look around in peace.

Among new items were a very useful portable pneumatic bead-breaker which handles up to 20in. wheel-and-tyre equipment, a reasonably priced parts washing unit and a towing ambulance with an extensible neck having a capacity of 2,0001b. and a laden towing speed of 50 mph. This was shown by Technisch Handels Bureau C. Van Maanen, Schonebergerweg 46, Rotterdam, and was available in three forms. Flush-Brush was the name given to a very low-priced parts cleaning unit which could be afforded by most workshops. For approximately £60 this electric-powered unit incorporated two solvent-fed cleaning brushes and a rinsing jet. Its design was such that it could be mounted on to a 40g drum and its impeller-type pump wi equipped with both a filter and meterir unit. Flush-Brush Holland R.J.A.
