Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An English language version of Vehicle Body Engineering, by J. Pawlowski, is now available from the English publishers, Business Books Ltd, Mercury House, Waterloo Road, London SE!, at 18. First published in Poland in 1964, the book contains a wealth of information on the theory and practice of vehicle body engineering, applicable to buses, lorries and cars, that is basic to the most up-to-date design concepts. As stated in the editor's preface, written by Guy Tidbury, the senior lecturer in vehicle structures at the Advanced School of Automobile Engineering, Cranfield, the •author's structural analysis for different types of vehicle probably represents an original approach to bodybuilding techniques.

Mr Tidbury points out that the author's application to vehicles of certain design concepts has not previously been attempted and that the book contains a number of lessons that should be of special value for structural analysts working on vehicles. While the design of bus bodies predominates as a commercial vehicle interest, the author's structural analyses of bodies for vans, lorries and pick-ups are extremely thorough. P.A.C.B.
