Mr. G. W. Hayter, general manager and chief engineer of the Northern General Transport Co., Ltd., and Mr. J. S. Wills, managing director, of the British Electric Traction Co., Ltd., on the British Transport Commission's proposed scheme for the co-ordination of passenger road transport in the North of England.

Mr. Hayter has declared that his company would fight the B.T.C.'s plan through all the stages of procedure laid down in the Transport Act, whilst Mr. Wills commented on the use of Area Boards and has said that their functions will be obscure.

The chairman of Newcastle upon Tyne Transport Department, Alderman R. Mould-Graham, has stated that his committee would continue' its opposition to nationalization as the Corporation wished to retain its transport system. The municipality would lose a £3,000,000 undertaking if it were taken away.
