A FTER long negotiations with Maidstone and District Motor Services, Ltd. Maidstone Borough Council has
decided not to sell its motorbuses and trolleybuses to the company. There has been no agreement over a proposal to pool receipts and transfer control to a joint committee, but co-ordination by means of fares has been suggested. The council sub-committee established to go into the matter of a sale reported that the transport department was unlikely to need aid from the rates and that unification might entail the reduction or abolition of certain services. There was no evidence that the company could provide a better service.
