Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A New All-purpose Agrimotor to be Marketed by the Well-known Bedfordshire Concern.

Ivel Agricultural Motors, Ltd., it Biggieswade, Bedfordshire, is sow marketing a new tractor of he universal type for general farm mrposes. It is suitable either for work in the field drawing ploughs, iarrows, or other cultivating mathinery, or it can be used on the mad as a tractor pure and simple ; Lt is also fitted with a belt pulley or operating some of the Itationary machinery in and about t farm.

Of American Mar ufacturr. The new tractor, which is styled he " Ivel-Hart," is of American manufacture. We have not yet 23,d the pleasure of examining its details. The dimensions and ?hotographs which we include with this article have been sent to us by the I've]. Co. ; we. shall no doubt be invited to an inspection Ind a thorough test at some early date.

The tractor is of comparatively Eight weight, and in point of size aompares closely with the wellblown Ivel tractor as manufacaired by Ere! Agricultural Motors, ['td., itself. It is propelled by a two-cylinder horizontal engine operating on a two-stroke cycle. the cylinders being cast together. Owing to the fact that the twostroke principle has been utilized, the need for cams and camshafts Ind the usual type of poppet valves is eliminated.

Girder Frame.

This two-cylinder engine is carried by a light steel frame, built of plates and girders.' The transmission from engine to the single centrally-disposed driving wheel is by spur gears ; these are arranged so as to afford two speeds in a forward direction and two speeds reverse. The final drive is from a steel pinion to internal gears at.: tached to the main driving wheels.

Enclosed Machinery. Operation Automatic. The whole of the -mechanism, as will be seen by reference to one

ot our illustrations, is totally enclosed, and so far as is possible on a self-propelled vehicle, its operation is automatic. Two systems of ignition are provided for the engine, one by means of the usual standard high-tension magneto, the other by dry cells and coil. The carburetter is designed, we are told, so as to utilize fuels other than petrol-. a small. quantity of the latter, .however, must be car-. ried for starting purposes. The lubrication of the whole of the engine and gearbox ia automatic from an engine-operated lubri

• 20 Km. Engine.

,The engine itself is of 20, b.b.p., each cylinder being 522-in. bore and 7 in stroke. Its normal speed is 600 revdlutions per minute. It may conveniently be worked at all speeds between 500 and 750 revolutions per minute. It is interesting to note that this engine runs equally, well in either. direction. Ball bearings are used throughout the chassis, the only, exceptions being the engine bearings and the main axle bearings. Cooling is by thermo-syphon. to a large radiator fixed in the usual position at the front of the machine. The clutch , as employed is of the dry-diSc type. The speeds available are such that on low gear 11 to 21 miles: per hour

may be obtained. and to.'31 on the high seed. The control is by means of. levers placed to the left of the 'driver's seat, and the position is similar to ear practice. Peculiar Construction of Main Driving Wheel.

The single driving wheel is of peculiar construction, the actual rim of the wheel, as will be noted from one of our illustrations, being skeletonic and serving only to hold the driving strakes, which are bent into a V form. The front wheels are 6 ins, wide and 33 ins, diameter, and carry the usual ridges to assist in steering over soft ground.

Weighs Just Under Three Tons.

The steering gear is by screw and nut. The machine would appear to be capable of turning in a very short space. Its weight is 50 cwt. It is claimed that under average conditions this machine will pull .a three-furrow plough, and will pull

a two-furrow one over the toughesi ground. The pulley belt providee is 16ins. diameter, and 7 ins. wide
