Under pressure

• A new emergency repair and preventative maintenance company specialising in high pressure vehicle cleaning equipment has been set up. Oxfordbased Power Service offers a next-day service throughout the whole of England and Wales and free call out charge for emergency breakdowns.

• The British Road Federation has launched its Road Fact 1996 leaflet to outline Britain's economic and social dependence on roads and road transport.

The leaflet, published as a response from the BRF to growing concern that Britain's roads are undervalued and under-funded.

TRAINING On the defensive

• A new training programme aimed at increasing defensive driving and driver awareness has been set up by the IRTU and European Road Safety Federation. FERRIES New ferry

• A new freight operation has started between Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland and I leysham in Lancashire. The service is provided by Sea Truck Ferries, takes 120 units and sails 12 times a day. Contact: 01693 754411.

• Preston-based air filter manufacturer Nederman has produced a mobile fume extractor for use in the workshop. The Filtercart can be plugged into mains power and extracts fumes during temporary welding operations.

• Shell Oils has launched n emergency oil spillage kit for industrial lubricants as part of its environmental initiative. The kit is claimed to save companies thousands of pounds in pollution costs.
